KNOW YOUR SUNSCREENS BETTER!! Part 1

Sunscreens have been in the market since the world was made, okay a bit of exaggeration there but sunscreens have been a boon to society since the early ages when greeks used olive oil as a sun protection. Egyptians used Rice & Jasmine Plant extracts. Synthetic Sunscreens today have also been quite in for a few thousand years. The biggest hit at that time was a sunscreen with SPF 2. (Whoa!) We’ve come a long way haven’t we? In the last decades alone we have come up with Broad Spectrums, Water Resistant etc.

So coming back to understanding the power of your sunscreen. Lets start with the most common 3 most used words “SPF” which stands for Sun protection Factor. We all talk about how important it is and now moisturisers and foundations also have SPF in it. but what does it do and what are all the numbers SPF15, SPF30, SPF50 and so on mean?

We have 2 important Ultraviolet rays that come in contact with our skin that is the UVA and the UVB. SPF means the protection we receive from UVA. So mathematically speaking SPF 1 is equals to 15 mins of protection. which means SPF 15 would be 225mins of protection. SPF 30 is equals to 450mins of protection.

If you enjoyed this blog post please click the like button and comment on your favourite SPF. Wait for the next part on Sunscreens where I talk about the protection from UVB and my top 5 favourite sunscreens. See you soon. 😉

Sultry Warm Orange Gold Eye look

Hello Beauties,

Welcome to my blog!

The Urban Decay Vice 4 palette is my favourite palette and it creates an infinite number of looks. This is just one of them with one of my favourite shades in the palette that is Bitten which is an orangey brown matte colour that can warm up and bring a pop to any look.

If you want to see how I created the look please read further.

IMG_0075

Step 1 – I prepped the eyelids with MAC concealer in NC42 and a translucent powder to set the concealer.

Step 2 – I used the colour Framed all over the transition area.

Step 3 – I used the colour Bitten on the crease region to warm the look.

Step 4 – I used the colour Delete on the outer corners of the eyes and blended it into the crease and down onto the lower lashes.

Step 5 – I used Flame in the middle of the lid and blended it along in the inner corner of the eyes.

Step 6 – Then I used the colour Bones in the inner corner of the eyes to brighten up the inner corner and make the look come together. I also blended the same colour on the brow bone.

Step 7 – I filled in my brows with Maybelline Brow Powder

Step 8 – I completed the look with Inglot Gel Eyeliner in Black, Stila Mascara and Ardency Inn eyeliner in the waterline.

Younique Mineral Touch Foundation

Hey Everybody
Welcome to my blog.

Today I’m going to review the Younique Mineral Touch Foundation for you guys. This is an honest review and not sponsored in anyway. I’m not a company presenter or a sales person this is just an honest review of the product.

I could be talking about any other in trend foundation yet the reason why I’m talking about a brand about which I don’t know much, is because I fell in love with this foundation the minute I started using this.

The Mineral Touch Foundation is a weightless foundation. It is the perfect cocktail of nourishment and coverage. Having a problematic skin I have tried too many foundations. All the foundations that I have ever tried are either too drying or too heavy, not enough coverage, sometimes cakey, sometimes turn very greasy during the day. For a straight year I used to use an oil free yet heavy moisturiser under my Estee Lauder Foundation because it was just perfect coverage. I still love it but for day wear or when I don’t need a heavy base, I found the perfect solution.

IMG_2389

APPLICATION: I cant believe how well it colour matches my skin. The way I apply it is by using a two or three dots on my face and then blending it in with a damp beauty sponge the one I use is a real techniques sponge. My skin instantly looks flawless, hydrated and glowing. Best part is that after applying the foundation I don’t have to set it with a powder as it has a matte finish. I let it set for a few minutes before going in with any bronzer or blush.

I’d recommend this foundation to anyone who has dry and problematic skin. It gives a flawless coverage and is weightless.

Smokey Ocean Blue Eye makeup look

Hey Beauty Lovers, I’m here with another eye-makeup look that is much different to what we usually wear. It is night time appropriate, it looks gorgeous and compliments dark eyes. I love how the colours just add a pop and bring out the eyes.

IMG_1938_Fotor

Step 1 – To achieve this look I started by prepping my eyes with MAC prolongwear concealer in NC42 all over my lid and set that with translucent powder.

Step 2 – I used a mixture of Make up Geek peach smoothie (3) and Creme brûlée (4) on the transition are of my eyes and on the lower lash.

Step 3 – I applied Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear (7) in the inner corner and the outer corner of my eye and blend it through in the crease and on the lower lash.

Step 4 – I used Makeup Geek Americano (8) in the same area as cocoa bear (7) to intensify it.

Step 5 – I used Makeup Geek Houdini (16) with a flat synthetic brush in the middle of the lid and blend it outwards. (Tip – You can use your ring finger for this step it would work just as great if not better)

Step 6 – I used my Urban Decay Vice 4 palette’s colour grasshopper (first swatch on the picture below) dabbing it with my finger on the ball to bring more light and dual toned effect. (Tip – You can use any lighter green with shimmer for this I used the Vice 4 palette as it was accessible)

sTEP 5 – I tight lined my eyes with Ardency Inn Liner and Used a liquid liner for the wing. I only started lining from half of my lid as I have small eyes and I really wanted to show the gorgeous colour.

Step 10 – Last I used Loreal Butterfly Mascara.

Step 11 – I applied Makeup Geek Rapunzel (2) on the inner corner to brighten up the whole look.

Anti-Ageing Series: The best secret to Anti-Ageing

Hey Everybody welcome to my Blog!

I’m so excited to share with you guys the three main ingredients that are required in every skin care regimen no matter what type of skin it is. Obviously I’m taking about Vitamin A, B and C. All of these three vitamins are not only important but are vital for the skin’s functioning and maintenance.

The only way topically to maintain a beautiful and youthful looking skin is to keep up the use of vitamin A, B, and C in your skin care regimen. Many products would have a mixture of different ingredients and I love it but the problem there is that there is a very low percentage of the vitamins in these products which does not help the skin at all.

vitamini-za-kozu

Vitamins A has many other names such as retinol, retinoic acid, retinoid, tretinoin. What it does is it helps the healthy cell growth from the basal layer of the skin by boosting the exfoliation of the flat, dead cells by this you get fresher, plumper looking skin also it helps improve the texture of the skin, brightens up the skin and fight age spots and ageing signs such as fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin B is an important and sometimes neglected vitamin in the skin care regimen as it builds the strength, hydrates and calm the skin. With the past few years I have been taking Oral vitamin A which did help a lot with my acne but did make my skin photosensitive and sensitive to other cosmetics. Using the Vitamin B serum I felt instant strengthening of my skin, my skin isn’t as sensitive and it feels great.

Vitamin C  is important part of skin care.It is filled with anti-oxidants that balance the skin’s free radicle damage. now not going too deep into scientific words free radicle damage is when atoms of the skin are un-stable as they lose there electrons to another atom and this leads them to steal an electron from another atom which leads into a domino effect. Practically this happens due to ageing, pollution, stress, hormones and all other things that depreciate the structure of the skin. Anti-oxidants such as vitamin C have extra electrons that they give to the unstable atoms which makes it very beneficial for the skin, making it look healthier, plumper. Vitamin C also helps with the production of collagen and helps reduce damage of harmful UV rays.

I love concentrated products of vitamins for my skin so I know what I’m putting on my skin rather than a pile of product with so many ingredients.

If you’ve liked my post please like & comment below what are you’re favourite products in topical vitamins, I’d love to try new things.

Top 5 Favourite Skin Care Essentials

IMG_1907_Fotor

We all have the skin care essentials we run to once we know our skin needs some help. I have listed down five of my skin care essentials that I need all the time.

  1. JOSIE MARAN: 100% Pure Argan Oil IMG_1914_FotorA bottle filled with 100% Pure Argan Oil. The thing about beauty oils becoming a trend is that its obviously the best for moisturising and it has the benefits of naturally derived sources. Argan oil by Josie Maran is one of the best argan oils in the market because of their process of deriving the oils by hand rather than using heat that would destroy the benefits in the oil. Even after being an oil it does not feel sticky or thick on the skin, It seeps into the skin and is readily absorbed into the skin. The best part about the argan oil is that you can start seeing and feeling improvement in your skin after a few days of use.
  1. Aspect: Multi B Plus Serum IMG_1912_Fotor

My doctor suggested me to start trying the Aspect Multi B Plus which is the Vitamin B serum for strengthening and nourishing my skin. With the past few years I have taking Oral vitamin A which did help a lot with my acne but did sensitise my skin to the sun and other cosmetics. Using the Vitamin B serum I felt instant strengthening of my skin, my skin isn’t as sensitive and it feels great.

  1. CLINIQUE: Anti-Blemish Solution Clarifying LotionIMG_1911_Fotor

I found this gem in my samples after shopping at clinique once and thought to give it a try. The solution is amazing for textured or problematic skin. I love the exfoliating pads and this has the same effect and is cheaper compared to exfoliating pads. I use it with a cotton pad everyday and night (if I don’t get lazy) and just allows other products to penetrate better and eaves my skin feeling baby soft.

  1. ASPECT: Active C Serum IMG_1913_Fotor

Vitamin C Serum : Aspect Active C serum. Vitamin C overall is important part of skin care that is sometimes neglected. Vitamin C is filled with anti-oxidants that balance the skin’s free radicle damage. now not going too deep into scientific words free radicle damage is when atoms of the skin are un-stabalized as they lose there electrons to another atom and this leads them to steal an electron from another atom which leads into a domino effect.

  1. ORIGINS: Drink Up Intensive Overnight MaskIMG_1910_Fotor

Origin Drink Up Intensive overnight mask: For all the times you wish you could go to sleep using something and the next morning your skin feels hydrated and smoothe, this is the best best solution after your night time regimen. This mask has helped me in making my skin look hydrated, fresh and glowing. I have also noticed that my Make up looks so much better when I use this mask the night before as it hydrates the skin so the make up doesn’t sit on top and start flaking or looking cakey. Love this mask.

Top 16 MAKEUP GEEK Eye Shadows

Hello everybody, welcome to my blog again. Today I’m going to share with you guys my top 16 eyeshadows from Makeup Geek. I ordered a total of 30 eyeshadows in span 6 months, I love all of them in the XL sized Z palette that holds 35 eyeshadows. I narrowed the list down to the 16 favourite ones.

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick Swatches and Review

Kat Von D liquid lipsticks are a few of the trendiest things that have been raved about for quite while now. Here I have swatched and reviewed a five of the most popular shades. So lets get into it.

YES YES YES, I AM ALSO ONE OF THE FANS OF THE LIQUID LIPSTICK TRENDS.

I’m sure everyone by now knows what liquid lipsticks are and what they do, but for everyone who is new to the concept, liquid lipsticks have the same application like gloss but they are very pigmented and after 1-2 minutes they set to a complete matte. I personally love the concept sometimes people are worried if these lipsticks would dry your lips, which depends on the brand. I do recommend moisturising your lips before using the liquid lipsticks.

Coming to the actual swatches, I have swatched 5 of these for you in the shades. Starting from the bottom left corner.

  1. Double Dare
  2. Mother
  3. Nosferatu
  4. Lolita
  5. Lolita 2

I have used these lipsticks to give you a good review of the formulae and the colour and if it is long-lasting. I DO NOT LIKE TO TALK ABOUT PRODUCTS I DON’T PERSONALLY LIKE.

Now the formula of the lipstick what i felt was a bit watery which was a concern to me at first thinking it wouldn’t be opaque enough. To my surprise its extremely opaque gives you a beautiful colour and its crazy long wearing. It does not move from the lips. Gorgeous product. Nothing bad to say about it except I wish I could have the berry toned shades.

Please like & comment if cleansing oils have worked well for you and which brand & shade of liquid lipsticks do you enjoy, I’d really love to know.

Cleansing Oils YAY or NAY?

The market is flooding with cleansing oils offering all kinds of cleansing oils calming, soothing, restoring, resurfacing but do they really work or are they just an expensive addition to your night time routine?

Lets clear the FAQs first

What is a cleansing oil? How does it work?

Cleansing oil is an OIL (DUHHH!!), yes but it is also made to cleanse in a way that it does not feel like the oil in your kitchen or where ever you keep oils other then your kitchen. 😛

Cleansing oils are designed to melt of all the make up and debris on your face additionally protecting your skin as it does not strip off the natural skin barrier and natural oils of the skin as a traditional cleanser would do.

How do you use it?

Take a few pumps on your hand and gently apply it all over your dry face, allow a minute or two for the oil to break down all your make up and debris. Massage it on your face. Now adding water on your palms keep massaging. You will notice the oil has now started foaming up or changing colour after which completely rinse the face with plain water.

The first time I came across a cleansing oil was in my beauty therapy days when we used Dermalogica’s Pre Cleanse on our clients. I was a little hesistant on trying oils on faces specially when I used to suffer from oily skin and cystic acne. After which I got a few samples of Shu Uemura’s cleansing oils (they have a wide range of these oils). I started researching more about them and tried them out for myself. I have tried many, so far I have loved some and not loved some.

THE BIG QUESTION- DOES IT WORK??

Yes they do and no matter if you have an oily or a dry skin, cleansing oils just balance your natural skin oils while completely melting of the dirt and debris from the skin. Oils have always been a great way of removing make up and now we have something that is oil but as soon as it is mixed with water it becomes foamy to give you the feel of a cleanser. Two jobs in one (I know the phrase that goes with it but I just hate to use it)

Honestly, not every brand’s cleansing oil is the same, but I’m here to talk to you about the good ones that really feel nice and remove all of my make up and make my skin feeling soft and completely clean. Here’s a list from my most favourite to my least favourite, these are my top favs so far.

  1. Shu Uemura High Performance Cleansing Oil A$42zoom_variation_NA_view_01_990x1290
  2. Clinique take the day off cleansing oil A$45Clinique_Take_The_Day_Off_Cleansing_Oil_200ml_1419001951
  3. Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil A$22 (much cheaper than the other oils but works equally well.)97950m_l

Please like & comment if cleansing oils have worked well for you and which brand cleansing oil do you really enjoy using, I’d really love to know.

5 Reasons you have Dry & frizzy hair and what you can do about it.

We all have the days when we look at our hair and think suddenly they have become so dry and frizzy, here’s 5 reasons and solutions to all frizzy hair problems.

  1. POLLUTION – This might be the most ignored reason but pollution is one of the reasons why health of your hair is not at its best. Pollution makes large amounts of toxic chemicals slowly affect the health of your skin and hair by destroying free radicals. iStock_000035743306_Small-2
  2. TOO MANY TREATMENTS – We all getting our hair coloured and our hair straightened or curled. It is all great until you do too much of it or not seek professional help for such treatments. Hair Dressers these days are very well trained to help you achieve beautiful looking hair without the overuse of harmful chemicals. Always seek professional advice.hairtreat2.gif
  3. STRAIGHTENERS – We love our straighteners and curling wands to get the best looking hair at any given time yet it all has its cons. The heat in the straightening irons and the curling wands are drying up your hair. Use a heat protectant product before the use of irons to protect your hair whilst providing a protective barrier.damaged_hair.jpg
  4. OVER WASHING – Washing your hair too many times strips the hair’s natural oils. Natural oils and humectants in the hair protect them and make them look luscious washing your hair constantly will strip these oils leave you with dry brittle and frizzy hair. Wash your hair 2-3 times a week and use some conditioning treatments like masks to help your hair regain moisture.washing-hair2.jpg
  5. HOT SHOWERS: The heat from the hot water makes your hair dry by stripping the moisture. Use warm water to cool water while you hair.

Additionally weekly oiling and hair Spas help your strengthen your hair and increase blood circulation to your scalp. They will also regain the lost moisture in your hair to provide with healthy looking hair.

Please comment what treatments or routines do you like to do to maintain the health of your hair.

5 Step Skin Care Regimen Everyone Needs

For a better health of the skin it is important to have a good skin regimen and here I have listed 5 main steps in the skin care that suit every skin type, every age, unless you are an infant. Keep reading to know more about what changes you need to make in your skin care regimen.

womenshealt
Step 1: Cleanse

Cleansing the first and very most important step of a beauty regimen. Cleansing removes dirt and debris from the skin. Cleansing kills the bacteria on the skin that breed on the cellular debris and excess oil production in the follicles resulting in acne. A good cleanser will maintain the pH of the skin, Kill bacteria and cleanse of all the debris and excess oil production without stripping the skin’s natural oils. Excessively drying cleansers strip the skin’s natural oils more than necessary and these oils when in the right amount protect the skin from harmful external environment.

exfoliate
Step 2: Exfoliate

Exfoliation is important to remove the dead skin cells that sit on top of the skin and make it look dull and grey, as the skin cells may not shed as effectively on its own. Exfoliation of the top layers of dead skin cells send messages to the lower layers to produce more healthy skin cells. Exfoliation can be performed from daily to thrice a week depending on the strength and coarseness of the product. Exfoliation in your regimen will make the skin look more plump and healthy, giving a natural glow.

howToApply_draining_pressure_points_stimulate
Step 3: Serum

Serum: Basically these are the concentrated forms of a particular ingredient or a combination, unlike the very less percentage in a moisturiser. Serums are the liquid elixir that our skin requires. Serums come in many different forms for different skin types and conditions. Serums are the treating factor in the skin care regimen. With all different types of serums available on the market such as vitamins, AHAs, natural ingredients choose the ones with a good percentage of active ingredient and your skin will thank you for it.

14CA405A000005DC-3030158-image-m-26_1428488835487
Step 4: Moisturise

Moisturise: Dry or Oily, Old or young, moisturisers are the thirst relievers of the skin. If you have an oily skin it does not mean your skin doesn’t require moisturisers, Oily skin can still be dehydrated. Always moisturise the skin. Good moisturisers for Oily skin type have more water content in them hence water based moisturisers. Dry skin types lack oil hence the most suitable option is an oil based moisturiser. A well moisturised skin always appears healthy and radiant

Application-of-a-good-sunscreen
Step 5: Sunscreen

Sunscreens provide the skin with protection against the sun & heat. Sun damage is the biggest factor in ageing. Protection from the sun is necessary no matter what skin type it is. Sun also increases the melanin production of the skin hence tanning the skin and an increase if the skin suffers from freckles, melanoma or other hyper-pigmentation problems.
